During the COVID-19 pandemic, many of my international friends went home and the ones who stayed in Barcelona had to stay at home. I had the idea to organize an online international pub quiz together with a Dutch friend (Frank van Mourik). A 'night out' with all our friends, at a time when the clubs are closed. We had prepared everything down to the last detail: from a poster to invite the participants, the questions during the pub quiz and the way in which the questions would be collected. In the end it was a successful evening, where we could still experience a little bit of togetherness in these times. Eventually people from ten different nationalities participated and the response was very positive!
When I worked at Young Crowds, my colleagues and I were very fanatical viewers of the television program 'Wie Is De Mol?'. The popular Dutch TV series revolves around a game, where the candidates must work together to earn money for the pot, while one of them is the mole (the one who secretly sabotages the game). I had already spontaneously started a group with colleagues for the 2014/2015 season of WIDM, where they could indicate who they thought 'The Mole' was. The following season I decided to take it a bit more seriously: a larger registration list, rules for participation, a cup for the winner with a prize and ... a promotional video for colleagues in the office.
During my bachelor study I had to work on the yearbook for our educational institution together with a group of my fellow students. We were given the creative freedom to fill this in according to our own ideas. I was the project leader and had final responsibility and, together with my other project members, I realized and printed a yearbook within a few months. A personal highlight from the yearbook of that year was the interview I held and wrote with the Communication Woman of the Year 2013: Marjolijn Meynen. Curious about the article?
